Nik Software – Rip Off Britain
Following on from my previous Blog on paying a higher price in the UK/Europe than those that live in USA/Canada I received this reply from Nik Softwares customer service after tweeting my experience on Twitter.
“Our prices for the US and EU shop have many contributing factors: economies, taxes, exchange rates, ect. As a European customer you will need to order from the EU shop. You can direct further questions about the prices of those programs to those that will have the best answers for you, our EU support team:”
Now I have been in business over 30 years, both nationally ad Internationally and in my time have imported all sorts of Goods from the USA in US$ direct to my door and as digital downloads. Nik are basically saying it costs them more to supply a software product in digital download format in Europe/UK than the USA – Its complete bollocks
A download is a download and costs me (the supplier) the same regardless where my end clients live. There is no product to ship, no carriage/distribution costs. So customer Services at Nik Software explain to my readers why I can go on your USA .com site, download your product(silver efx pro 2) at $199 take out the 15 day trial, but when I go to pay for it you automatically direct me to your European site where I am forced to pay for it in Euros at 199 Euros and pay a significantly higher price? due to the $ being better than the Euro – I think you’re profiteering at our expense
